Church Services Offered & Ministries
Monday – Clothing Closet
Every Monday from 10-2 we open up our clothing closet and offer free clothes and personal items to anyone in need. Housed at First-Centenary United Methodist Church in downtown Chattanooga, The Clothes Closet not only strives to meet the needs of our surrounding community through clothing and household items, but it also works to implement programs that promote and sustain community development. Located on the second floor by the sky bridge.
Wednesday – Lunch in the Park
We like to meet individuals where they live. Using our Director’s homemade recipes, every Wednesday we offer meals at the Salvation Army on McCallie and the Chattanooga Community Kitchen from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m., come rain, sleet, snow or hail just like the United States Postal Service. We serve on average 10,400 bowls of soup through our Lunch in the Park program every year. We do this to promote a sense of community and to build relationships by offering the love of Christ.
This program also offers those who have come through our program the opportunity to give back. Most of our volunteers who serve in our Lunch in the Park program were at one time on the other side of the table themselves and they appreciate what a warm, homecooked meal means while you’re down on your luck.
For more information on you and your small group or organization can be a part of our Lunch in the Park program, contact Barry Kidwell.
Thursday – First Baptist Bible Study
Through the support of various churches in the Chattanooga area and a partnership with First Baptist Church in downtown Chattanooga, every Thursday evening at 6 we offer laundry services, free showers and grooming services which include haircuts and even a massage along with dinner at First Baptist Church in downtown Chattanooga. Guests are invited to stay for a bible study following each dinner. Contact Herb Hooper for more information on how you can be a part of our Thursday services at FBC.

Sunday – First-Centenary Breakthrough Service
Through a partnership with First-Centenary United Methodist Church downtown and local church congregations, we offer dinner and a worship service called Breakthrough Worship from 5-7 p.m. in The Vine. During this service, those we serve have the opportunity to enjoy Holy Communion. As a way to show the love of Christ to those we serve, various congregations sponsor and serve our weekly meals.
